Young Explorers Discover Global Warming – Hillview
| Event: | Young Explorers Discover Global Warming |
| Centre: | ChildFirst @ Hillview |
| Date: | August 2025 |
The ChildFirst @ Hillview K2 little scientists took part in a hands-on experiment to learn about the important topic of global warming and how it affects our Earth.
They explored how melting glaciers can cause flooding in cities. Using ice cubes to represent glaciers, they built small “cities” with blocks and toys. As the ice melted, the children watched how water slowly flooded their cities, just like what happens in real life when the Earth gets warmer and glaciers melt. This simple experiment helped the children understand cause and effect, and sparked meaningful conversations about how we can care for our planet.
After the experiment, the children became young city planners! They designed their own future cities with creative ideas to protect against flooding and fight global warming. Some of their amazing ideas included water-blocking walls, more trees, solar-powered vehicles, and even robots that help cool the Earth!
