Creative Upcycling for Sustainability – Hillview

As part of our iUnique curriculum, the ChildFirst @ Hillview K1 children explored their creativity while learning a valuable lesson on sustainability. In a meaningful upcycling activity, they transformed old T-shirts, generously donated by their families, into unique personalised DIY tote bags. With a splash of imagination, the children adorned their creations using repurposed materials such as old buttons, zippers and fabric scraps.

This hands-on project not only nurtured their artistic expression but also deepened their understanding of reducing waste and giving pre-loved items a second life. Once their tote bags were complete, the children took their learning a step further by conducting a market survey. They gathered feedback on how to improve their designs and explored how much potential customers might be willing to pay for their handmade bags.
