K1 Coding Programme: Mazes, Robotics & Problem-Solving – Hillview



The ChildFirst @ Hillview K1 children concluded their exciting coding journey with AlphaMini by exploring and applying the concept of mazes. They learnt that a maze is like a map with a clear start and end point, and that solving it requires finding the correct path through various turns. After practising with maze worksheets and identifying the directions needed to reach the end, the children brought their learning to life by building their own maze courses using toy and foam blocks.

Working collaboratively, they designed the maze layout, discussed the step-by-step directions Mini would need to follow, and translated these plans into code. As they tested their sequences, they made thoughtful adjustments whenever Mini took a wrong turn and celebrated each successful run.

This engaging hands-on experience strengthened their problem-solving, spatial awareness, sequencing, teamwork, and communication skills while deepening their understanding of key coding concepts.
